Subject: Political Signage Policy for BTPOA
Date: Wednesday, August 06, 2008 2:45 PMDear
Bent Tree Homeowners,
The Architectural Control Committee (ACC) has received
several requests regarding signage for the upcoming elections. The current
regulations allow a homeowner to post one political sign per political
office or issue and limits the size to 36" by 48". While the Covenants
state that ACC must approve the signage, we do not want to limit your right
to free speech and therefore give permission for homeowners to post signs
within the limitations set forth in section 4.8.2.1 of the BTPOA Rules and
Regulations without filing a written request. The signs should be posted NO
SOONER THAN 45 days before the election and must be removed within seven
days after the election as allowed by SB05-100 and revised by SB06-89.
The board reserves the right to request immediate
removal of any signs that are slanderous or offensive to the public at
large.
If you have any further questions on the matter, please
feel free to contact us at:
Also, with the resignation last Spring of Dr. David
Hatfield, we are still short one member on the Architectural Control
Committee. If you would like to serve your community this would be a good
way to do so. Elections will be held at the September 10th all members
meeting - Please consider putting your name on the ballot.
Sincerely,
Patrice Stevens, ACC Chair
Mark Wester, ACC Member

political sign per political office or ballot issue that is contested in an
election. Political signs may be no larger than 36" x 48" or the maximum

unit owner's property within the boundaries of a unit or in a window of the
unit; owner's residence; except that an association may prohibit the display
of political signs earlier than forty-five days before the day of an
election and later than seven days after an election day; and an association
may regulate the size and number of political signs. It further states that
the association shall permit at least one political sign per political
office or ballot issue that is contested in a pending election. The maximum
dimensions of Each sign may be limited to the lesser of the maximum size
allowed by any applicable city, town, or county ordinance that regulates the
size of political signs on residential property; or thirty-six inches by
forty-eight inches.
